Choose a SEVP-Approved Institution
Begin by applying to a school or program authorized under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Once accepted, the institution will issue the appropriate form (I-20 for F-1 or M-1, DS-2019 for J-1).Pay the SEVIS Fee
Submit the I-901 SEVIS fee. This payment is mandatory for creating your student record in the U.S. government database and must be completed before your visa interview.Complete the Visa Application
Fill out the DS-160 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application) online, upload your photo, and pay the visa application fee. Keep the confirmation page as proof of submission.Schedule an Embassy/Consulate Interview
Book an appointment at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. Prepare all required documents, including your I-20 or DS-2019, financial statements, and proof of ties to your home country.Attend the Visa Interview
Arrive on time with all supporting documents. Be ready to discuss your study plans, financial capability, and post-graduation intentions. The consular officer will determine if you qualify for the visa.Receive Your Visa
If approved, you’ll either receive your passport with the visa by mail or be instructed to pick it up. Ensure all information is correct before traveling.Prepare for Arrival in the U.S.

- The student’s enrolment must be full-time at the school s/he is accepted
- The student’s English must be sufficient enough for his/her to study in the U.S. or s/he must be enrolled in courses teaching proficient English
